Rating: 4 out of 5.

Synopsis – “When aspiring writer Guinevere Beck strides into the bookstore where Joe works, he is instantly smitten.

But there’s more to Joe than Beck realises and much more to Beck than her perfect facade. And the obsessive relationship quickly spirals into a whirlwind of deadly consequences…”

Genre – thriller

Quote That Stood Out Most – “She is supposed to be in a morgue, not a hospital.”

I watched the Netflix TV series before I read the book and absolutely loved the series, it was so intense! I read so many reviews about the book and how much better it was than the show so I just HAD to read it .. obviously. At first I was shocked by the language in the book but I love the way it portrays Joe and sets out his mind. The story is told from Joe’s perspective so you get to read all his thoughts, from good, to bad, to naughty.

Without giving to much away, I feel bad that I was rooting for Joe .. why do I like him so much! (Oops).

The book was written in a typical thriller way, short, quick sentences. I loved this. The pace was quick and shortness of the sentence kept me tense and intrigued. I was literally sat in the edge of my seat at parts.

The downfalls to this book for me is that there wasn’t enough detail in certain parts. We got told certain things that are essentially huge parts in the story, but they are over within one line with no description or detail which is a little disappointing. HOWEVER, the book does make up for that in other areas.

Overall I really enjoyed this book but I do wish I had read this first and then watched the show because I didn’t have to use my imagination, the film was already pictured in my mind when reading.
